Dog Teaching Services

Most of us don’t need our dogs to tap dance or do magic tricks.  What we long for most is to live peacefully together,  to be the amazing team we know in our hearts we can be.

As far as your dog is concerned no one compares to you.  No one knows him better and no one in the world loves her quite like you do.  Because of that my passionate belief is that every human/dog relationship is a beautiful promise waiting to be fulfilled.  My experience of many years is that all that’s usually missing are a few gentle tweaks to unlock the magic.

I believe that just as we do,  our dogs learn their very first and most important lessons at home,  in the environment where they feel most safe and loved.  This is where the unique dialogue between us first begins,  and it's the blueprint for coping with and reacting to every experience going forward – the source of everything they will ever need to feel safe and happy. As between humans, trust is the bedrock and key component to all successful relationships. Without it there can be no mutual respect. For that reason I choose not to use any teaching methods or devices that are painful, frightening or confusing. Such methods and tools typically hide behind dishonest phrases such as ‘negative reinforcement’, They often include shock collars, choke chains spiked choke collars, as well as other cruel & useless tools. And they are the gadgets of misguided & ill informed trainers who have convinced their clients that they are ‘temporary’ fixes for behaviors they themselves do not understand or have the knowledge to ‘fix’

My way of working is to visit you and your dog at home for approximately 90 mins.  During that time I’ll get to know you both a bit better,  and will learn more about your special needs and goals.  My focus will be to leave you with a clear, understandable plan of action that’s easy to follow. Whenever extra support is needed I’m never more than a text, phone call, FaceTime, or email away.
